Diane went to a Salon to get her nails done for our wedding a few Hours before our conversation in that previous post.
here's what happened there.
Diane walked into the Hotel Salon, and up to the desk. a blonde woman walked up and smiled friendly at her.
"You must be our bride to be." she said, grinning.
Diane said nothing but returned the grin.
"Okay, lets see 'em." said the woman.
Diane's smile vanished instantly and she said half joking, and half in shock "Excuse me?"
The woman laughed and held out her hands "Your hands, silly."
Diane's smile returned and she laughed at herself quietly, trying not to let on that she was embarrassed.
the woman walked Diane over to a table and started setting up the Manicure station... while getting straight to the point of the conversation she hadnt even started yet.
"So what is it?"
Diane was again confused. "What's what?" she asked with her grin still intact.
"What's the reason you're marrying him? Love? Money? what?"
Diane looked down with a sad smile. "The government is sending a check for one hundred and thirty five dollars a month, so not money." she started. then she looked up.
the woman took her hands and dipped them in the water and continued the conversation. "Is it Love then?"
Diane shrugged. she didnt know. she barely knew the boy, come to think of it. she knew his name... that was pretty much it.
"No..." she drifted off in thought.
The woman sighed. "Yea, I married for Love. He could've had any girl he wanted, he looked like a movie star, and he picked me." she continued to wash Diane's hands.
Diane smiled. "And you picked him, too, right?"
The woman looked up. "Yea, i guess i did." she paused. "So why are you marrying this guy, anyways?"
Diane sighed. "Well, He's a soldier. and if i marry him, he goes to Germany. If i dont marry him, he'll probably go straight up to the front lines and get killed. i mean...More and more boys are coming back every day in Body-bags. Two even from my Graduating class just this last month! and if i could've married them to keep them alive, then i would've. I mean..." she paused for a second to think about what she was about to say. "Its just... Until someone in charge tells me WHY we're over there anyways, I dont really see a point. If marrying him tonight keeps him from going to Vietnam then its worth it."
She stopped and looked down. her long eye lashes made her look like a china-doll.
"You're going to be the most beautiful June Bride here. I promise." said the woman with a smile.
yea... that's all i got so far.
just making up scenes as i feel like it.
